Missy Porteous, MS, RD, CDE, CLT is founder and owner of LifeQuality, Inc. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, a Certified Diabetes Educator and a Certified LEAP Therapist. She holds her Bachelors degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Loma Linda University and her Masters degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Specializing in blood sugar control, weight management, heart health (including blood pressure and cholesterol reduction), gastrointestinal disorders, eating disorders, and demystifying the vague symptoms related to food allergies, sensitivities or intolerance, Missy can help you feel fantastic and be healthy once again!
Missy's unique, multifaceted experience empowers clients to balance healthy eating, fitness and lifestyle goals. Missy has over 20 years of experience in the nutrition and fitness industry and a Certificate in Adult Weight Management from the American Dietetic Association. She served as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, and assistant manager at Bally Total Fitness, (previously Holiday Spa) for 8 years and enjoyed a long career in public health providing health and nutrition education, and clinical outpatient nutrition counseling. For seven years, she led and mentored a team of medical nutrition therapy dietitians, serving ten community clinics.
Missy was co-host to Allan Borgen on the local PBS television program "Let's Dine Out", rating restaurants on their heart health, diabetes friendly offerings, and their willingness to be accommodating to special diet requests. In 2006, Missy appeared on dLife TV (CNBC) ,"Know Your Numbers". She also contributed to the dLife.com Expert Answers web site column.
For years, Missy provided diabetes self-management education and support groups at Corona Regional Hospital and the Riverside County Exclusive Care Diabetes Center for Excellence, working with Endocrinologist, Dr. Atam Singh.
Missy has a great deal of experience in working with eating disorder patients throughout her career. In addition to private practice, she had the pleasure of working with psychiatrist Dr. Ariel De Llanos in Temecula.
Currently, Missy provides Medical Nutrition Therapy for major medical groups and health plans and inspires audiences of corporate wellness programs. Her systematic, goal-oriented, problem-solving approach has helped thousands of patients and clients achieve positive outcomes.
In her spare time, Missy enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, dancing, swimming, yoga, walks in beautiful places, traveling, and playing the drums.
